¡¡ Highgate Energy are fully aware that as a home-owner you will like to be sure of the honesty and trustworthiness of the Domestic Energy Assessor who will need to visit your property. In order for you to have confidence in your Assessor I have put a profile of our Assessor below, and have included links to Qualifications, and Criminal Record Check Jonathan Schnadhorst - Domestic Energy Assessor Copy of Domestic Energy Assessor Qualification and NHER Accreditation Copy of Current Criminal Records Check ¡¡ What does the Domestic Energy Assessor do? The Domestic Energy Assessor collects data on the dimensions, construction, insulation and lighting together with information about the heating and hot water systems. The Energy Assessor will spend anything from 30 -60 minutes at the property. During this time a lot of data is collected in order to carry out a quick, but accurate survey. The Assessor will look at the property externally and internally, and if possible will need access to all rooms, and the loft area if present. The assessor will take photographs of key elements of the property as well as taking detailed site notes. This information collected is then fed into an approved software package called RdSAP. This in tern produces the Energy Performance Certificate. All of the photographs and site notes are also uploaded onto the Software Package, and can be accessed by the Assessor, or accrediting body in the event of any queries.
How are Domestic Energy Assessors regulated? Accreditation Schemes will ensure that the work of the Domestic Energy Assessors (who undertake Energy Performance Certificate inspections) can be trusted by sellers, buyers and lenders alike. The Accreditation Schemes will: l Ensure that all Assessors are 'fit and proper' people l Check the background of Assessors, including carrying out a Criminal Records Bureau check l Ensure that the Assessors are qualified to carry out their duties l Ensure that the Assessors have adequate indemnity cover to deal with any claims that might arise l Check the quality of the work produced by Assessors and ensure that there are no drops in standards l Have the power to suspend and/or cancel the membership of any Assessor whose work falls below acceptable standards, or who does not adhere to a strict code of conduct l Ensure that there are proper procedures in place for complaints and redress l Keep a public register of their members. ¡¡ |
